I Love This

I absolutely love this poem. When I first read it it made me cry. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do. It's called The Wife

Another sleepless night for me
Alone upon our bed
I see again his every move
And those last words he said.

So proud he looked in uniform
Convinced that he was right
He had to go, for duty called
There was a war to fight.

Those last few days before he left
I hid the pain inside
We talked and loved and even joked
He never knew I cried.

And when the dreaded moment came
He kissed me tenderly.
His eyes met mine, and then he said,
"I'll be all right, you'll see."

I tried to smile and nod my head
Afraid to let him see
The terror that I feared if he
Did not come back to me.

I see him as he walked away
I tried to say 'good-bye'
But words were trapped within my throat
All I could do was cry.

The weeks have stretched now into months
And every night I pray
That God will keep him in his care
And bring him home one day.

At last I drift off into sleep
In dreams I see him more
I turn around and smile to hear
His footsteps at the door.

Restless I sleep, and then I wake
Not opening my eyes
I move my hand to reach for him
But no one near me lies.

I will not give in to despair
With each new day I'll cope
For I know he would want me to
Be brave and live with hope.

I hear the voices loud and strong
Who criticize the war
While yelling "men are fools to go"
They stay on freedoms shore.

A man who cowers under fear
Will die a thousand deaths
While men like mine for freedom fight
And offer their last breaths.

I hope perhaps in fifty years
When men remember war
They won't forget the wives who dreamed
Of footsteps at the door.

Big News

Well, I really have mixed feelings for this blog but well here it goes. About two weeks ago I received a letter telling me that I was accepted into the BYU elementary education program!!! It's nice to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. So in the Fall I will take the Art semester, in January 2009 I will do the 1st cohort and during the summer of 2009 I will do the 2nd cohort which means I will be starting my internship August of 2009. Which is what I want and great news always puts a smile on my face.
But, Sean and I have decided that I am not going to go to North Carolina anymore so that I can finish school faster. If I would have gone to NC it would have taken two years longer to graduate. Anyways, so now I will be without Sean for 18 months... but I still get to see him probably once or twice a month so that will be nice.
So now here is what will happen for the next two years... Sean leaves in May, I start the Art semester in September. He'll be home for Christmas and then I'll go out to NC to help him move into his place and come back. I'll start my internship in August and Sean will be home that December... when I put it that way it doesn't sound so bad.
Anyways, I know that this is a quick up date so if you have questions feel free to ask.

Answers to all the questions

Well I have been receiving a lot of phone calls and e-mails asking what the next two years will bring to Sean (and of course me because we are married and that's how it works.) So here you all go. Hopefully I don't leave anything out... it's a long list.
On May 26 Sean reports to the military for boot camp. Nine weeks later he graduates from boot camp and goes right into his next training, which is called AIT. That will last for I believe three weeks and then he goes right into jump school. This is were he learns how to jump out of an airplane holding a gun, as Sean would describe it. After Jump school he goes to Selection. This is the most important part of the whole thing. They have a two week training and then two weeks of what's called "The Hell Weeks." If he doesn't make it through selection then he will just be a regular Army guy. If and when he makes it through though he will come home for Christmas Break and then December 28 we will move to North Carolina where he will go through one year of MOS. This is when he will learn how to be a Special Forces Medic. In January of 2010 we will move back to Utah and he will get to go to school to two years. During these two years he will be working on his pre-recs for P.A school. After those two years we will then move to Texas were Sean will go to P.A school. P.A school last for two years and after P.A school we are finished with the military and will most likely move back to Utah!!! Wow that sounds easy when I type it all. Hopefully I answered most of the questions. If I didn't go ahead and ask I don't mind answering them. I'm getting quit good at it.

I'm a Slacker

Well once again I have found myself slacking. I haven't posted for over two months so I'll give you a quick up date of what's going on in our life. Well school ended in December and I had a wonderful Christmas break full of family, friends, and food. Sean worked most of the time but our first Christmas together was amazing. January came school started again for me and Sean of course worked. Not much happened until the birth of our handsome nephew Maddox. This was the first time in almost 10 years Sean has held a baby and I must say it was extremely funny. When Maddox started to make noise Sean looked at me and looking very scared said "He's making noises take him away." Two days later Sean went to his military drill were he learned how to survive in the snow of Utah. He had to eat bugs, start a fire with wet wood, and snow shoe. He loved that whole weekend. Now January is almost over... 11 hours and counting.
Oh another exciting thing is that we have started to really get into rock climbing. Sorry that I haven't posted. I promise that February will be full of posts.

Busy November

Wow it's been a crazy month. During the first week of November Sean went to his first Drill weekend, that was a Friday-Sunday. On Sunday when he got home he repacked his bags and went on a Business trip to Wisconsin until Thursday. Friday morning the two of left for Vegas to visit his grandparents and for an air show. Here are a few pictures that Sean and his grandpa took at the air show.

Two weeks later we went back to Vegas to spend Thanksgiving with his Grandparents. It was such a good Thanksgiving, lots of family, food , and fun. We don't have pictures of Thanksgiving yet but when we do I'll put them up. I can't believe how fast this year has gone by.

We love to go long boarding together. This picture was taken over the summer right before we got married. We thought it was really cool.

National Guard

Sean swore into the Army National Guard on Tuesday afternoon. He's going to be part of the special forces as an 18 Delta. He leaves May 27, 2008 to go to Boot Camp in Georgia and will graduate in August. In January 2009 I'll move out to North Caroline to join him for a year and we'll come back to Utah in 2010 so we can both finish school. In 2012 if everything goes well we'll move to Texas were Sean will go to the military P.A school. This is going to be one big adventure. Oh yeah if we have a baby while we're in NC it will only cost us $25! Not that we're planning on having a baby out there, that just something that I thought was cool.
